In 1983, Debbie and Carlos Rosas created Nia, the first safe, barefoot cardiovascular workout
that did not include any jumping up and down. They developed Nia to inspire people to respect
their body; to develop a conscious relationship to what they do physically, and to choose pleasure
as the way to get fit and stay healthy. Nia birthed the low-impact aerobics movement, and changed
the look, feel and direction of fitness to include fluid, circular, spiral and functional movements.
Today, some 1500 licensed Nia teachers instruct more than 40,000 students worldwide.
